Meet the Coach - Tyson MacDonald
My name is Tyson MacDonald, and I am the Masters Coach at Laurier. I have been coaching for two years and am excited to return for another season working with our swimmers.
As a former member of Canada's national team, I retired from competitive swimming in 2024 after representing Canada at two Para Pan American Games and one World Championship. I am also a recent Laurier graduate, holding both a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts degree.
In addition to coaching the Masters program, I serve as an Age Group Coach with the Region of Waterloo Swim Club and as an Assistant Coach with the Laurier Golden Hawks Varsity Swim Team. During the day, I work as an Occasional Teacher with the Waterloo Region District School Board.
I look forward to helping our athletes achieve their goals and supporting them throughout their swimming journey.
