Work out at the Fit Centre or take Group Exercise or Dance classes; get your team together or register as a free agent for intramurals; soar above at the climbing wall; make a splash at the pool; join a sport club, go to Open Gym; and more!

Get familiar with Fusion! Your New Recreation Member Portal

Fusion is Laurier Athletics & Recreation's new facility and recreation management software, which replaced laurierathletics.com/shop in Summer 2026. Our new member portal through Fusion can be accessed by visiting register.laurierathletics.com or by downloading the Fusion GO app. For any Fusion-related questions, please email service@laurierathletics.com.

Logging into the Fusion Member Portal

  • Laurier Students/Staff/Faculty: Visit register.laurierathletics.com and click the 'Sign In' button in the top right corner to access your member profile. Click the 'Laurier Member Portal Login' button to sign in. Do not sign up for a new account, as all Laurier Students/Staff/Faculty already have an account created through their Laurier single sign-on (SSO) login (used to login to Outlook, LORIS, etc.). Your member portal (and registrations) are linked to your OneCard.
  • Community Members: Visit the Hawk Desk at the Athletic Complex to purchase a membership. After your membership is activated, visit register.laurierathletics.com and click the 'Sign In' button in the top right corner to access your member profile.
  • Rental Clients: An account will be created for you with further instructions to review bookings and pay invoices via the member portal.

Downloading the Fusion GO App

The Fusion Go app provides a mobile option to quickly access program information and register for programs. To use the Fusion GO app, download it from the Apple store or Google Play store.

To login through the Fusion GO app:

  • Enter your email address
  • Make sure the Region is set to Canada
  • Click Next
  • Click the Wilfrid Laurier University button or search Wilfrid Laurier University
  • Click Proceed
  • Sign in through single sign-on

Fitness Centre

Take advantage of our ~22,000+ sq ft Fitness Centre within Laurier’s Athletic Complex (see facility hours). You can also now view our Fitness Centre occupancy tracker to plan your workout accordingly; capacity is routinely updated. Laurier also offers women’s only hours on the second floor Monday-Friday from 7-9AM and 4-6PM and weekends 9-11AM and 4-6PM. Everyone is encouraged to use the Athletic Complex and engage in programming in accordance with their lived gender identity and/or gender expression.

Open Recreation Hours

Open Recreation hours refer to time set aside at the Athletic Complex gym (also called Open Gym), Ansley Alumni Field and/or the field in the dome at University Stadium. During these times, students are welcome to play a variety of sports to their leisure. 

Open Recreation also includes lane swim times and climb times at the rock wall. Women's* only programming is also provided through Open Recreation, which includes lane swim sessions, climb times and designated hours at the Fitness Centre. *Laurier Athletics & Recreation encourages the right of all students, members and visitors to participate in programming and engage in spaces that feel authentic to them. Click here to learn more about our inclusive spaces and programming.

Group Exercise

Get your workout in, in a group setting with our staff of trained instructors! From Cyclefit, to Bootcamp, to HIIT, Yoga, Muscle Pump, and more, there is a Group Ex class for everyone! 

Laurier students, click here to sign up for your free Group Ex pass and view current class offerings. Class sign-up is also available through Fusion, beginning up to 168 hours before each class start time, and is recommended to guarantee your spot.

Dance

We offer a wide variety of instructional dance classes featuring many styles and levels to suit a multitude of participants. This is a great way to try something new or enhance your own abilities while receiving a great weekly workout.  Classes run for approximately 10 weeks, are an hour and 15 minutes in length, and all classes participate in the semester end Dance Showcase! 

Popular class types we offer include Acro, Advanced Ballet, Burlesque, Dancehall, K-Pop, Lyrical, Jazz, Jazz Funk, Tap, and a variety of non-performance classes as well. Classes during RecFest (the first week of each term) are free to attend. Dance registration opens on a rolling basis as of September 15th through Fusion. The date when registration opens for each class is listed in the member portal.

Intramurals

Intramural league offerings vary each semester, and sign ups open at the start of each term. 

Intramurals can be a great way to meet new friends, by signing up as a Free Agent, or you can register as a team. 

Some popular intramural leagues are Basketball, Soccer (outdoor and indoor), Volleyball, Ice Hockey, Ultimate Frisbee, Inner Tube Water Polo, Badminton, Dodgeball, Ball Hockey, Table Tennis, Squash, Spikeball, Handball, and more!

Intramural registration opened August 25th and closes September 15th at noon.

Swimming/Aquatics

Our Olympic length pool features six lanes and can be set up in long course or short course configuration. Home to the Laurier Golden Hawk Swim Team, the Region of Waterloo (ROW) Swim Club, the pool provides over 30 hours of recreation programing every week to students (lane swim, masters swim, lifeguard hiring, and intramurals).

Climbing Wall

Our climbing wall is specifically designed for teaching basic climbing and mountaineering skills. Our indoor rock climbing wall is a great place for new climbers to start improving their upper-body strength or for experienced climbers to fit regular workouts into their week! Use of the climbing wall is offered free to all Laurier students.

Sport Clubs

Sport clubs are run by the students, for the students, with a heavy emphasis on student leadership in competition, performance, and team management. A sanctioned sport club provides a program of instruction, recreation, and/or competition in a specific sport or physical activity. We have sport clubs that compete against other universities, as well as some clubs that compete only within their membership group. 

Within the member portal, registration information, waivers, equipment or tryout fees and other sport club information can be found.

Personal Training

With our team of certified Personal Trainers, individuals within a wide variety of knowledge, ability, and comfort levels can sign up for a variety of different service levels.

Squash Court & Studio 4 Reservations

In order to reserve a booking slot, visit register.laurierathletics.com and click the 'Sign In' button in the top right corner to access your member profile. An active membership is required to reserve a squash court and/or Studio 4. Click here to reserve your slot.

When you arrive to the Athletic Complex for your reservation, please check-in at the Hawk Desk.

Athletic Therapy Club

Get hands on experience and learn from our own Golden Hawk Athletic Therapists.

Employment

We are the largest employer of students on campus, with over 300 students employed. Our facility runs on students. Our success is found within their dedication and excitement towards our facilities and our programming. 

From Hawk Desk attendants, to sports writers, Personal Trainers, Intramural referees, Lifeguards, marketing, dance instructors, and more, every aspect of our daily operations rely on students. 

Most hiring is done in the months of January - March for the following school year, and is done through Navigator
