WATERLOO, Ont. – On January 20th, the Ontario Government announced that as of January 31st, gyms are allowed to reopen at 50% capacity. This will be exciting news for many as this means that the Athletic Complex and University Stadium will be reopening on January 31st.

However, all reopening plans are subject to change based on Provincial and public health guidelines. We encourage you to continue checking our website before you plan to visit any facilities to confirm the latest protocols. We will also be sharing regular updates via our social media channels.

What you'll need starting January 31st
Many entrance protocols will remain the same. However, there are a few notable changes:
	- All users will now have to show your Ontario issued enhanced vaccine certificate with the official QR Code.

	- Issued exemptions must meet the provincial requirements, which only covers medical exemptions processed through the government website.

		- This means that exemptions granted based on religious or other Ontario Human Rights Code-based exemptions will not apply to sport and recreation facilities on the Laurier campus (i.e., Athletic Complex and University Stadium).

Individuals who received their vaccine outside the province of Ontario must register their vaccine doses with Public Health to obtain an Ontario issued QR Code. As far as we know, this can take several business days to complete, so we encourage people to start this process as soon as possible.

Access into the Athletic Complex and/or University Stadium will not be allowed without the official QR code

Upon entry, you will still need to provide:
	- Government issued identification.

	- Daily COVID-19 Self-Assessment via the SAFEHAWK app (For Students, staff and faculty).

	- or Visitors COVID-19 Screening Assessment (For community members).

	- Reservations are still needed.

	- Users will still have to wear a mask and practice physical distancing where possible.

Other important information
	- Patrons aged 12 and older must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination along with government issued ID upon entrance.

	- Children 11 years of age and younger will be exempt from proof of vaccine.

	- Details about varsity athletics and spectator events will follow and will be updated on the Laurier Athletics website.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate this difficult situation.
