WATERLOO, Ont. - Have you ever wanted to refine your swimming ability or push yourself to the next level? Laurier Athletics and Recreation offers a Masters Swim Program hosted at the Athletic Complex that welcomes adult swimmers from varying skill levels to train four times a week under the guidance of an experienced coach. The program focuses on fitness, competition, and triathlon programming led by coach Dylan Thomas.
Dylan is a third year Kinesiology major and team captain of the Varsity Laurier Swim Team. Dylan has over 11 years of competitive swimming experience along with being a national-level qualifier. In addition, he has been coaching for the past three years, working with skill levels ranging from new to high performance swimmers.Â
"In Masters Swim, I get to work with swimmers from all different skill levels and ages ranging from first year university students all the way to swimmers in their 70s who want to continue training… it's incredible. Our group is super encouraging of one another and it's a good mix of a friendly but highly motivating environment" says Dylan.
He continues, "over the course of a training period, our program will cover a mixture of distance freestyle, sprints, and working all four stroke styles. The other benefit is that I am always willing to modify a training session to each athlete specifically. Whether it's an injury or a personal training goal, I will make sure to develop a training regimen that is right for you. Overall, I want everyone to feel a sense of accomplishment and success."Â
