WATERLOO, Ont. – The Wilfrid Laurier Department of Athletics and Recreation will be returning to full programming for the fall of 2022.
This marks the return of the climbing wall, larger intramural leagues, more sport club competition, squash courts and open gym, plus the removal of all reservation requirements for recreational programs.
All Laurier students have access to the Athletic Complex, Fitness Centre and many recreational programs with a valid OneCard. Additional passes or purchases are required for specialty programs like the Group Exercise pass, dance class registration, intramural leagues, climbing wall pass and rent a locker. All students or members have access to lane swim, open gym, the Fitness Centre and squash courts for no additional costs.

Aquatics
Laurier aquatics offers daily lane swim for no additional cost. Lane swim hours can be found on the lane swim information page.
Fall 2022 also marks the return of Master Swim, a program for adult swimmers with the focus on fitness, competition and enhanced training. The Master Swim program holds weekly practices for participants and is an additional membership cost to participants.

Climbing Wall
Located in the back corner of the Athletic Complex, the indoor climbing wall features multiple routes and a bouldering option. A full term climbing pass gives users unlimited access to the wall during it's open hours. There is also a single-day drop in option available at the Hawk Desk. Passes are onsale now at

Courses
First Aid and CPR-C course are offered through Laurier Aquatics and open to anyone, not just Laurier students. There are three scheduled dates for the fall semester with more courses to be added through out the school year.

Dance
Laurier's recreational dance program is known for it's outstanding semester ending Dance Showcase it hosts at the end of the fall and winter semesters.
Offering a variety of styles and levels, the dance program is a semester long class where participants learn choreography they then perform at the showcase.
Dance registration opens September 13.
Fitness Centre
All Laurier students with a valid OneCard have access to the Fitness Centre. The FC hours are available on our home page at all times.
Returning this fall are women's only hours from 7-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. Monday to Friday. The women's only area is on the second floor overlooking the Athletic Complex lobby.
Laurier staff/faculty, community members and alumni can purchase memberships to use the Fitness Centre.
Facility hours change to our Fall hours on September 6. Fall hours are as follows:
- Monday - Thursday: 6:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.
- Friday: 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m
- Sunday: 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Free Week
Free Week from Monday, September 12 to Sunday, 18, is the chance to try any recreation program at no additional cost. Laurier students are invited to try before they buy all Group Exercise and dance classes, plus the climbing wall before passes will be required for the semester.
Group Exercise
Group exercise offers a wide variety of group fitness classes for everyone to join in and stay active. A great place to meet new people while taking active study breaks, group ex has something for everyone.
From HIIT to yoga, cardio + core to full body bootcamps or cyclefit, there are classes all day everday! A group ex pass is required after free week and can be purchased at
laurierathletics.com/shop under the "Fall 2022 Group Exercise" box.
Intramurals
Intramurals are the corner stone of Laurier Recreation. Offering both recreational and competitive leagues, students can sign up as part of a team or as a free agent. There is a league for everyone from basketball and volleyball to ultimate frisbee and inner tube waterpolo, ball hockey or table tennis, spikeball or handball, there is a league for you.
Registration for all intramural leagues open August 29 and closes September 15. Ice hockey intramural registration only closes October 8.

Open Gym
Students can rent equipment using their OneCard for use in the AC gym during open gym times. Open gym times can be found in the drop-in calendar on our home page.
Personal Training

Sport Clubs
Laurier sport clubs are run by students, for students. Competing against other universities in both recreational and competitive leagues, there is a sport club for everyone. Select clubs are currently holding tryouts, for an updated list

Student Jobs
Laurier Athletics and Recreation employees one of the largest number of students on campus. From facility staff to lifeguards, event support to intramural referees, social media creators to webcasting crew members, there is a spot for everyone in Athletics and Recreation.
Hiring that happens in the fall semester includes lifeguards, intramural referees and select league support roles. All other student hiring happens during the winter semester (February-March) for the following school year. Students can find open positions on Navigator and brows our student positions on

Women's Only Hours
From 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, the front room on the second floor of the Athletic Complex Fitness Centre becomes a women's only area.
