WATERLOO, Ont. – The Wilfrid Laurier Department of Athletics and Recreation is excited to announce the arrival of 'Her Strength' led by the Laurier Fitness Centre's personal trainers.
Her Strength, formerly known as BarBelles, is a five-week group training strength program for women, designed to improve strength, learn correct lifting form, and build confidence in the gym. Participants will be guided by Laurier's certified male and female personal trainers on how to use proper form, build a fitness program tailored to your fitness goals, and properly structure a workout regimen.
"We're very excited to start Her Strength at the Fitness Centre," says
Sterling McNabb, Laurier's personal training team lead. "This program welcomes women from all different training backgrounds to feel empowered through fitness and meet new people."
So, how does it work?
Over the course of 5 weeks, a personal trainer will introduce you to various exercises, help you develop an exercise plan, and review basic nutrition in a small group setting. Each week will consist of two sessions, on Monday and Thursday at 12:15 p.m. By the end of the program, you will be able to confidently navigate the Laurier Fitness Centre, have a training plan catered to your fitness goals, and have some new workout friends to join you!
