A variety of sport clubs are hosting tryouts in the coming weeks. A list of tryouts is included below and will be updated as new tryouts are announced.

If you have any questions about participating in the tryouts, visit the club's post for more details and contact the club directly, either through email or Instagram. Tryout sessions and information are subject to change.

Field Hockey

"The Wilfrid Laurier University Field Hockey Team invites all students to be part of a competitive club and vibrant school community while representing the purple and gold on the pitch. Tryouts for this year's team will occur on September 5th (9:30-11:00pm), 6th (8-10:00pm), 9th (7-9:00pm), and 10th (7:30-9:30pm) at Ansley Alumni Field.

Our team competes in several tournaments against top-tier OUA teams like Toronto, York, Queens, McMaster, Guelph, and Waterloo, traveling to cities such as Ottawa, Mississauga, Toronto and more. The season runs from September through January, featuring both outdoor and indoor versions of the game. We practice twice a week and have a weekly group workout.

This is your chance to start an exciting journey, develop your field hockey skills and become part of a supportive and spirited team. We're all about teamwork, respect, and resilience, where making new friends is a part of the game!

Competitive Dance

Competitive Dance is hosting auditions on September 15th. Click here for more information on the auditions and click here to register for the auditions (scroll down to Competitive Dance). Auditions will take place in the MPR in the Athletic Complex and styles of dance include contemporary and jazz (10:00am - 3:00pm), hip-hop (4:00-6:00pm), and tap (6:30-8:30pm). Sailing

Sailing is hosting tryouts and requesting students fill out a form to provide their information, experience and availability. View details here. 

Squash

"Attention all aspiring squash players! 

The Laurier Squash Team is excited to announce tryouts for the upcoming season. We're eager to welcome both experienced players and newcomers to showcase their skills and join our team. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow students, improve your game, and be part of a fun competitive team! Please send us an email if you plan on attending so we have an idea of numbers. 

When? September 9th, 2024 
Women's tryouts will take place from 4:00-6:00pm and men's tryouts will take place from 6:00-8:00pm.

Tryouts will be held at the Waterloo Tennis Club at 54 Central St, Waterloo, ON N2L 3A8 during the following times:

• Men's Tryouts: Monday, September 9^th from 10 - 11pm
• Women's Tryouts: Wednesday, September 11^th from 10 - 11pm

Ultimate - Women's

"Don't let this ultimate opportunity fly by—tryout for the Women's Ultimate Frisbee Team at Laurier! Whether you're a seasoned Ultimate player or someone eager to try something new, this is your chance to be part of a dynamic team that values sportsmanship, teamwork and friendship!

Mark your calendars! Our tryouts are set for September 7th and 8th at Ansley Alumni Field. Please make sure to come out to both tryout dates!

• September 1st - Time: 3:30 PM (Open Scrimmage - Click here for details.)
• September 7th - Time: 12 PM – 2 PM
• September 8th - Time: 6 PM – 8 PM

Come prepared with your enthusiasm, cleats, water bottle, and both a white and black t-shirt, and get ready to show off your skills!

What to expect? The tryouts will include a mix of drills and scrimmages, designed to assess your endurance, disc handling, and on-field communication. We are looking for players who demonstrate strong teamwork, quick thinking, and a passion for the game. But don't worry if you're new to Ultimate—everyone is welcome to try out!

Our team practices twice a week near or on campus, providing balance between sharpening your skills on the team and academic commitments.
